Здравствуйте! я не геймер чтоб разбираться какая Vista!Да и что из этого что я приехал в СПб с другова небольшого городка,непонимаю!!!А когда скачиваешь и начинаешь устанавливать то игра неидет на 99 проц ост и пишет в введите код и внезу телефон! вот и попросил ссылку на Visty ,игра очень запомнилась в юносте) вот и хочу ее установить !!! А тебе сложно помочь лучше лясы тачить!

да скачал !!! но идет расхивация но написал что то по английски в конце 7th Legion is not correctly installed . Please Re-install.

 

I recently installed the game and had a small issue under win 10, after trying multiplayer->tcp-ip the game minimized and prompted for an ip, after that however the game had garbled colors due to the palette switching. Here's how to fix that:
1)do not use ddraw.dll
2)extract DXWnd in some directory(wherever you want) - you can get it from sourceforge
3)Run DXWnd as administrator, drag and drop the game in DXWnd, then change the name to 7th legion(can be whatever you want really) and change the Launch field to the same as Path.
4)Here are the configs I use
4.1) for fullscreen:
Main->Generic->untick Run in Window
leave everything else as it was by default
4.2) for windowed
I like to have my window centered, so:
Main->Position->tick Desktop center
To fix the issue with the cursor not having a correct position in the game window when we have an offset of the window's position:
Input->Cursor Handling-> tick Correct mouse position fix
To fix the issue with the graphical representation of the cursor not matching it's physical properties:
Input->Cursor Handling-> tick WM_NCHITTEST
If you want to use the mouse to move over the map, I find it easier when my cursor doesn't exit the window:
Input->Cursor Handling-> tick Force cursor clipping

Other misc stuff you might want to add:
So we can exit with alt+f4:
Input->Keyboard handling->tick intercept alt+f4 key
To change the window dimensions(by default it is 800x600):
Main->Position->change W and H to whatever you would like your window's dimensions to be
To smooth out the image:
DirectX->Filtering->Fast 2X bilinear (idk why but for me full bilinear doesn't work)
To remove the banner in the beginning:
Main->Generic->tick No banner
Optimizes the CPU usage?:
Main->Generic->tick Optimize CPU

You can export these configs later on so they will be readily available for importing.

P.S. If somebody can add these instructions and a DXWnd link in the files section so people can see it when downloading the game I think it's going to be helpful for Win 10 users, and btw there's a tunngle 7th legion channel now.
Sorry for not writing in Russian, but my Russian is pretty rusty, so while I can understand most of the comments just fine, I have issue writing in Russian.

 

I don't know about a DXWnd launcher, but here's an ini that will have the 2 configs ready when a user starts DXWnd:
DXWnd_export_folder_path should be replaced with the path to DXWND's export folder, ex: C:\DXWnd\exports\
legion_exe_path should be replaced with the path to the game, ex: C:\7th Legion\legion.exe
Then just replace dxwnd.ini with that ini file, run DXWnd as admin and double-click the config with which you want to run the game.
You can later export these 2 configs if you want to remove them from the list for some reason.
On a side note, I was pleasantly surprised that with a bit of tweaking DXWnd works on a bunch of new and old games that I previously couldn't really run well.

P.S. I honestly just recommend people configuring it the way they want it rather than using the configs I do. I mean the whole point of this was getting 7th legion not to screw with windows' palette, the window mode and the various other extras are just a bonus.

 

I am not too good with batch but from what I can make of it, what this "launcher" does is simply replacing dxwnd.ini with a new one where the path in the ini is changed to match the directory where the game was installed/extracted, and having a predetermined configuration (which resides in dxwnd1.ini) + running dxwnd. While this is indeed user friendly, it limits you to having dxwnd in a folder next to the game folder, basically for every game this way you'll have a new copy of dxwnd. But if you make an archive with the same configuration as Genocide (meaning the bat is in a parent directory while 7th legion gets extracted in 7th Legion directory, and dxwnd in dxwnd, and dxwnd.ini is the ini I've posted) then this bat should do the work:
While this would make the running of the game in 2 clicks, I still believe that having only one copy of dxwnd where you load your configs is better, but if you deem it better this way - then you can use this bat file and the ini that I posted if you want.

For anybody that wants the configs:

You need to change legion_exe_path with the path to legion.exe, ex: C:\7th Legion\legion.exe,
you put them in the dxwnd exports folder, and then you can import them from dxwnd.exe through the menu.

Obviously 7th Legion should be unpacked in the 7th Legion folder so that legion.exe has a path %cd%\7th Legion\legion.exe, then just click the bat and it should fix the ini and the configs and move them to the correct folder.

 

I just tested the file with the rip version you have on the site with the dxwnd fix - ddraw.dll must be removed after extracting the rip version, or the game won't run from dxwnd. I believe it was not present in the ISO version, but I am not too sure.

 

I've tested it only on my PC which runs Win 10, so if anybody has an issues with another version of windows drop me a line, we may figure something out. I made the fix archive like the one from Genocide, however nowhere there were the necessary steps mentioned - maybe they should be, at least for 7th legion it should be something like this:
1) extract the fix in the directory you want
2) extract 7th legion in the 7th Legion folder of the fix(rip version)/install 7th legion in the 7th Legion folder of the fix (ISO version, I usually need to keep the ISO mounted to be able to play too, or I'll get a no cd error message)
3) if ddraw.dll is present in the 7th Legion folder delete it
That should be pretty much everything, but I can't know if it will work for every PC configuration/windows version, so it would be good if more people can test it, or if somebody has any issues he can write here.

 

Добрый День! Решил вспомнить юность и пройти пару раз 7 Легион. Скачал с сайта образ и лончер, установил в подпапку как по инструкции, в итоге: игра запускается, в заставке и меню изображение отличное в обоих вариантах - оконном и на полный экран. Но вот беда: запуская Start new game (в меню) - черный экран и мышь 5 секунд, далее мышь пропадает и ничего не происходит (сколько бы я не ждал), диспетчер пишет что программа не отвечает.

Помогите плизз, Как это исправить?
